KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has claimed to be clueless about whether he will be fielded as a candidate for the Pasir Gudang parliamentary constituency or move to Kota Tinggi in the coming general election.

The former Johor mentri besar said the issue will be resolved when Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announces the Barisan Nasional’s full list of candidates, Utusan Malaysia reported him telling reporters in Johor Baru yesterday.

“I submit myself to the leadership to decide where I will be placed to contest,” he was quoted saying after launching a new Umno branch in D’ Rimba, Seri Alam in Johor.

Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Pasir Gudang Umno division chief, claimed that the new branch members had quit Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to return to Umno.

“This is a good sign as we face GE15. The establishment of this branch has nothing to do with the fact that GE15 is approaching because it was planned a long time ago.

“I believe its existence can help strengthen Umno and BN that will face the GE15 soon.

“I believe they can make a comparison and see that Umno’s existence is more about serving and advancing the community. And this they can compare with the parties they have dealt with,” he was quoted saying.
