IPOH, Oct 27 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim no longer has doubts of securing the Tambun parliamentary seat in the November 19 vote.

The incumbent Port Dickson MP disclosed that he was initially hesitant, but said his doubts vanished after the welcoming reception he received from Perak residents to his events.

"When I decided to contest Tambun, I was thinking whether can or not,” he said of his ability to wrest the seat won by former PH colleague Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in Election 2018.

"But after seeing the crowd today, who attended this programme despite hot weather and workday, I’m confident this time,” he said in his speech at the Pesta Lee Cha with the Khantan residents in Chemor.

Earlier, he had asked the crowd numbering some 500 people what they thought of his chances in the 15th general election.

In reply, the crowd roared “can win”.

Anwar, who has also been named by PH as its prime ministerial candidate, is expected to face off against Ahmad Faizal who is Bersatu deputy president and the former Perak mentri besar.

Bersatu had been a component party of PH in the 14th general election but exited the coalition in 2020 to form an alliance with PAS.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming was also present at today’s event.
