KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — Former Johor mentri besar Datuk Hasni Mohamad has warned against turning Johor into a "circus", after hooligans disrupted a Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) event last night.

The Umno man said voters want the democratic process to be carried out maturely, and the shameful political culture should not be practised in the run-up to the 15th general election (GE15).

"Campaign and win the people's votes prudently. Don't make Johor a circus. We must be better than this," posted on his Twitter account.

Last night a group of young people stormed the Malam Mesra Muo event at a restaurant in Jalan Bakri organised by Muda by throwing firecrackers and bottles.

The act of provocation has caused some attendees to be injured and vehicles damaged.

Muar district police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the investigation into the incident, which occurred at about 9.35pm, was carried out under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

Muar Muda information chief Muhammad Amir Fiqri Mustapha said his party would continue cooperating with the police to find the mastermind behind the second commotion incident.

On Oct 18, Johor Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said five police reports were lodged over a ruckus that occurred during a ceramah organised by Muda in Parit Jawa two days earlier.
