KUCHING, Oct 22 — Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will make a clean sweep of all parliamentary seats in the state in the November 19 national vote, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said today.
The deputy president of PBB, the anchor party of the Sarawak ruling coalition, said it’s not just his party that will win all the seats it contests in GE15 but the other three other component parties — Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) — too.
“We all are in GPS,” he replied to reporters who asked his response to doubters who suggested that the coalition’s three other components were not a certain bet for victory compared to PBB. “We go to war to win. For GPS, we will make all efforts to ensure that we will win all the seats, including the rural areas,” said Uggah who is also deputy Sarawak premier.
“It is very important for us to make sure GPS wins all to ensure the state’s political stability as you know that GPS has contributed to a lot of developments,” he added. He said the state GPS government is keen for developmental projects in the state to continue uninterrupted.
He added that this is why Sarawakians should back GPS in the national election just like they did during the state election last December.
PBB is expected to field 14 candidates in GE15 while its coalition partners SUPP contest in seven, PRS six and PDP in four constituencies. In the 2018 general election, PBB won all the 14 seats, SUPP managed to retain only one seat, PRS won in three seats while PDP secured victories in two seats.
