KUCHING, Oct 18 — A bigger number of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the federal government will bring a stronger, more assertive voice to make demands for Sarawak and its people.
GPS chief whip, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof in a statement today said that events and the coalition track record since its formation in 2018 had proven that a strong bloc of MPs from GPS in the government had led to more benefits for Sarawak.
His remarks came to rubbish a call by Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president, Voon Lee Shan for Sarawakians not to vote for GPS in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) as it does not benefit them.
“Voon Lee Shan telling Sarawakians to weaken GPS and not to vote for GPS in the upcoming GE15 based on his twisted idea that a strong federal government does not benefit Sarawak is utter nonsense and simply does not make any sense,” said Fadillah, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice-president.
Apart from PBB, the other parties in GPS are Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
PBK is one of the local opposition parties in Sarawak and since recently, has been collaborating with two other local parties, namely Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS). — Bernama
