KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang today called for further clarification on Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's controversial 'waiting list' speech during the 76th MIC general assembly on Monday.

Lim posed questions on whether the five named by Ahmad Zahid will be charged and what they will be charged for. He also questioned the truth behind the 'waiting list'.

"Further clarification by Zahid is called for. Are the 'Umno-Barisan Nasional Five' which he named at the MIC Assembly on Monday on the 'waiting list' to be charged in court or not, or is it just an apparition in his fevered imagination?

"Furthermore, if the 'Umno-Barisan Nasional Five' are on the 'waiting list' to be charged in court, what will they be charged for? Whose 'waiting list' was Zahid talking about?" he said in a statement this morninh

Ahmad Zahid named Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Umno minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, MIC president Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran and and his deputy Datuk Seri M. Saravanan as next to potentially face political prosecutions should their coalition lose the 15th general election (GE15).

MIC's Vigneswaran then came to defend Ahmad Zahid's speech, claiming he was referring to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

“It is noted that none of the BN parties, whether Umno, MCA or MIC, had ever taken a stand on the 1MDB scandal — are they for or against the 1MDB scandal, which caused Malaysia infamy, ignominy and iniquity as practising 'kleptocracy at its worst' on the global stage.

“Is he suggesting that the nine judges in Malaysia at the High Court, Appeal Court, and the Federal Court were wrong in unanimously finding Najib guilty of corruption and despatching him to jail?”

He further questioned if the reason behind Ahmad Zahid's desire for a “dominant victory” has to do with the upcoming 1MDB trial in New York, which will apparently see high-profile witnesses such as Leonardo DiCaprio and political lobbyists and political figures.

In clarifying his speech, Ahmad Zahid accused his rivals of "spinning” his warning to fellow politicians.

The incumbent Bagan Datok MP on Thursday said his speech was to point out that BN leaders may face selective or political persecutions if they return to become the Opposition.
