KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — A day after reaffirming PAS’ commitment to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, the Islamist party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang today announced it will field its GE15 candidates under its own banner in three states.
He said the PAS full moon symbol against a green background is more recognisable among supporters in Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah, several news outlets reported today.
“Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah will use the moon symbol, other states can decide what symbol they want to use, [including] PN.
“The other states, it’s ok, we forgive lah. What’s important is that we invite all Muslims, non-Muslms to reject the takers and givers of bribes,” Utusan Malaysia reported Abdul Hadi telling reporters in Marang, Terengganu this afternoon.
But he also said PAS will discuss its decision to use the “moon” logo with PN partner Bersatu.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had announced back in July that Bersatu and PAS would both use the coalition’s logo for GE15.
The Election Commission has yet to set a date for the general election after Parliament was dissolved on October 10.
