KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has decided to cooperate with both the Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) for the 15th General Election (GE15), said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The PH chairman said the discussions with both Muda and PSM were positive, with leaders agreeing to working together with both parties for GE15.
“For now, it is an electoral pact, because (to admit) membership (to PH) will be up to the RoS (Registrar of Societies),” he told reporters outside the PKR headquarters here today.
This means that Muda, PSM and PH parties should not clash in any seats for GE15.
Separately, PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil told reporters after today’s presidential council meeting that the decision will be formally announced soon.
“With regards to Muda, the presidential council has received the report, the progress is positive and we will have to wait for further announcement on the next step, so it’s looking positive,” he said earlier today.
Muda has already announced that it wanted to contest in seats formerly won by the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in GE15.
PSM was eyeing several seats including the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat in Perak where their president, Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj, won under PKR ticket in 2013.
On September 21, PH announced it had formed a committee to hold talks with Muda on its application to be a part of the coalition.
The members of the committee included PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, DAP organising secretary Steven Sim, Amanah Youth chief Hasbie Muda, and Upko vice-president Ewon Benedick.
