KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 — The number of flood evacuees housed at flood relief centres in four states continued to drop with 21,846 from 6,650 families as of this evening, while in Melaka the number remained the same.

According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM)’s Disaster Info app, all victims were taking shelter at 152 relief centres in Kelantan, Selangor, Pahang, Melaka and Negri Sembilan

In Selangor, the app indicated that the flood victims in the state continued to drop to 8,715 from 2,458 families housed at 46 relief centres compared to 8,821 individuals at 56 relief centres this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sungai Bernam in Sabak Bernam was at a normal level of 0.97 metres this evening compared to 2.36 metres at 11.30am.

Meanwhile, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) on its official Twitter informed that a briefing session would be held every morning to coordinate work on the ground among agencies, local authorities and volunteers.

In Pahang, the number of evacuees this evening stood at 13,315 from 4,247 families with the number of relief centres still operating was 97, according to the app.

It said Temerloh, Bentong, Pekan, Maran, Bera and Kuantan recorded the highest number of flood victims.

Meanwhile, the Drainage and Irrigation Department’s (DID) official flood information portal publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my reported that the water levels in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Pahang in Lubuk Paku, both in Maran at an alert level with a downward trend.

So far, almost all routes have been opened, except at nine locations including Jalan Kuantan-Segamat in Pekan, Jalan Kuala Lipis-Jerantut (Jerantut), Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Maran (Maran), Jalan Ulu Dong (Raub) and Jalan Bentong- Gua Musang (Lipis).

The number of flood victims in Kelantan recorded a decline as of 6 pm today when 218 individuals from 69 families were still housed at two relief centres in Pasir Mas, compared to 347 victims from 117 families this afternoon.

The DID’s portal reported that none of the water levels at all major rivers in Kelantan has exceeded the danger level.

In Negri Sembilan, state Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Syukri Madnor said the flood victims in the state had decreased to 82 individuals from 26 families compared to 128 victims from 37 families this morning and were housed at three relief centres in Jelebu.

Meanwhile, in Melaka, state APM director Lt Kol (PA) Cuthbert John Martin Quadra said the number of evacuees remained 26 people from eight families as of this evening, housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Penghulu Benteng relief centre in Jasin. — Bernama
