KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — The Health Ministry reported 4,922 new Covid-19 cases today, a decrease of 791 from yesterday’s 5,713 cases.

The numbers bring Malaysia’s cumulative total to 2,497,265 cases, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said online.

Of the total, 4,912 were locally transmitted including 4,690 by Malaysians while 10 cases were imported involving seven citizens and three foreigners.

Most of them — 4,842 or 98.4 per cent — were in categories 1 and 2, showing no or only mild symptoms while 80, or 1.6 per cent were in more severe condition.

“There are 549 cases being treated in the intensive care units (ICU), with 529 of them confirmed Covid-19 cases, and 20 were suspected, probable and cases under investigation.

“There are another 282 cases requiring breathing support, comprising 214 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 68 others that were either suspected, probable or under investigation,” he said in his daily statement.

He also said that 5,579 more patients have recovered, to give the country a recovery rate of 96.2 per cent.

He also announced three new clusters — Dah 3/5 Industri Sungai Petani 2, a workplace cluster in Kedah with 54 cases, Jalan Yahya 4 in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur with nine cases and Muhibbah Sungai Papan in Kota Tinggi, Johor with 17.

This means there are 355 active clusters remaining.
