KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 ― Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng today announced that the government will be giving out the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) next month, just before Hari Raya.
But he also said that the handout will be renamed.
“As directed by Tun @chedetofficialBR1M (which will be given a different name) will be paid in June before Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Further information will be announced next week,” Lim said in a tweet, and tagged Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
This will be the second payment BR1M. The previous payments were done back in February this year.
Lim has said that all contracts that are not in favour or do not benefit Malaysia will be reviewed, and that he would look in terms of maintaining BR1M payments, and subsidising fuel prices.
