KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — A group of tahfiz students, believed to be from the Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah school where 23 students were killed in a fire last year, today broke fast at the residence of Datuk Seri Najib Razak this evening.
The students dressed in white robes were seen arriving at the former prime minister’s home at around 7pm with packets of food in their hands.
The group refused to answer questions from the media, but are believed to be breaking fast and also performing terawih prayers at Najib’s house.
Earlier today, Malay Mail received an invitation from a group labelling themselves as “concerned” NGOs, saying the tahfiz students would be visiting Najib’s house to “offer moral support and sympathy”.
However, the white Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV that is believed to be used by Najib was spotted leaving the residence a few minutes before the students arrived.
Najib, whose house has been the focus of a police raid over the past three days, received supporters throughout the day.
This included former ministers and personal friends.
A total of 23 students and teachers of the Quran memorising school in Keramat were killed in a fire last September, which police say was caused by arson.
