IPOH, May 15 — Tualang Sekah assemblyman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said today she does not plan to join the Pakatan Harapan (PH) pact that nominated her brother-in-law as its Perak mentri besar.
Nolee was expelled from Umno yesterday after pledging her support to Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is married to her sister and was later sworn in as the 12th MB following a three-day deadlock after the 14th general election.
“I have no intention of joining PPBM even before and also after the declaration of support,” she told Malay Mail.
“After I received the news yesterday, I’m now independent and will remain so for now,” she added.
Nolee was one of two Barisan Nasional (BN) representatives who pledged their support to Ahmad Faizal.
The two seats, when added to PH’s original total of 29, gave the coalition a total of 31 — enough to form a majority in the state, which then allowed PH to form a government.
Yesterday, Umno acting party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that two Umno assemblyman, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin and Nolee had been dropped from the party, after chairing a special meeting with Supreme Council members at Menara Datuk Onn in Kuala Lumpur.
Nolee said that she respected the party’s decision.
“I have said in my earlier statement that I will adhere to their decisions as they deem right.
“This seems fair as I have also undertaken an action which I have deemed right too, under the given circumstances,” she said.
Nolee also said that she did not ask for any state executive councillor post under the PH government.
“When I made the decision to support the candidate as mentri besar, it was to institute a government as soon as possible. The decision was taken on that fact alone.
“I have made it clear that I am not interested to any state official post to the mentri besar,” she said.
“The PH government, whom I never dealt with, did not offer any state official post either. And this still remains true even after the sacking news,” she added.
Meanwhile, Zainol had submitted his PPBM membership application to Ahmad Faizal, who is the state party chief yesterday.
