KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 — The Election Commission (EC) said today it needs time to calculate the official election results for the 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats nationwide.

EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said that he is aware that people are “anxious” for the results, but the commission is still waiting for results from different states and polling centres.

“Please give us a little time for the official results. What has been made viral is not official, perhaps it is from party agents who are on duty at polling centres,” he told a news conference.

“There are no tricks. The moment we get the results for the 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats, we will announce it,” Mohd Hashim added.

He also said that the total voter turnout today was at 76 per cent.
