IPOH, Jan 27 — Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented today 362 scouts in the state with top honours from the movement.

The recipients who were part of the scouts batch for the years 2016, 2015 and 2014 received their Malaysian Scouts Federation badges and King Scout Certificates at the State Secretariat Banquet Hall.

Six Malay College Kuala Kangsar scouts from the batch of 1998 also received the King Scout Certificates.

Leading the list were State Tourism and Culture committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd and State Education Department director Datuk Mat Lazim Idris who were bestowed the Bintang Semangat Rimba Perak.

Sultan Nazrin also presented various badges such as the Pingat Perkhidmatan Gemilang, Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang, Bintang Dato Seri Maharaja Lela, Pingat Dato Sagor, and many more during the ceremony.

The state Ruler also presented King Scout Certificates to 305 students from schools around the state who has passed the tests.

The award ceremony was attended by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, National Chief Scout of Malaysia, Tan Sri Shafie Mohd Salleh and Perak Scout Chief Commissioner Ahmad Azam Shah Abd Majid.

In his speech, Shafie said the King Scout award is the highest achievement for school scouts and applauded the Perak scouts association for being able to produce an average of 100 recipients a year.

He added scout programmes that focused on leadership training and instilling the spirit of volunteerism are in line with the federal government’s vision for Malaysia to achieve developed nation status by 2050 and urged both the public and private sectors to support the scouts movement.
