KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Police fired several shots at a car in Taman Tun Dr Ismail after the driver refused to stop at a road block here early this morning and led police on an extended chase.
According to Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din, a patrol car from the Kuala Lumpur contingent headquarters gave chase and was able to track the driver when he rejoined the Damansara-Puchong Expressway.
“The suspect then drove against the traffic on the LDP headed towards Puchong, before crashing his vehicle into a road shoulder.
“He then tried to flee by mounting the divider in an attempt to enter a junction at Jalan SS 2/75,” he was quoted as saying by national news agency Bernama.
Mohd Zani confirmed that one shot hit the suspect in the back before he was arrested.
He added that the suspect was in custody, and sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.
The suspect and the car he used have been linked to ongoing home invasion investigations, said Mohd Zani.
