KUCHING, May 19 — Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said today all ministers, assistant ministers and assemblymen of the Barisan Nasional in the state will have to submit a report based on what they had done to him every six months.
Adenan said this was like their Key Performance Index (KPI) and he would be reading them.
“They must perform. I will be reading the reports and those who did not perform will, for a start, get a reminder to buck up,” he told a media conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here after chairing his first cabinet meeting following the May 7 state election, which saw the BN winning 72 out of 82 seats.
He also announced the portfolios of the 18 assistant ministers, who had been sworn in before the head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud earlier today.
The new faces are Dr Annuar Rapa’ee (Nangka assemblyman), a cardiologist by training, who has been appointed the Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology, Malcolm Mussem (Batang Ai) as Assistant Minister for Agriculture, and Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil (Marudi) as Assistant Minister for Local Government.
Others are Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail (Bukit Kota) as Assistant Minister for Welfare and Community Wellbeing, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn (Tarat) as Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supply).
The assemblyman for Pantai Damai Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi was appointed as the Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications) and Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali (Samariang) as the Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Development.
Another newcomer Datuk Gerawat Gala (Mulu) has been named as the deputy Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly.
Reappointed as assistant ministers are Datuk John Sikie Tayai (Kakus) as the Assistant Minister for Native Laws and Customs, Datuk Len Talif Salleh (Kuala Rajang) as Assistant Minister of Workforce Development and Training and Assistant Minister of Environment and Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais (Gedong) as Assistant Minister of Resource Planning.
Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Holis is now the Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Interior Areas) and Plantation and Datuk Julaihi Narawi (Sebuyau) as Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Coastal Areas) and Fisheries.
Also reappointed are Datuk Talib Zulpilip (Jepak) as the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure Development and Assistant Minister for Urbanisation, Datuk Lee Kim Shin (Senadin) as Assistant Minister of Land and Air Transportation Safety and Assistant Minister of Tourism as well as Liwan Lagang (Belaga) as the Assistant minister for River Transportation and Safety.
Adenan also named Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (Asajaya) as the Assistant Minister for Housing and Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (Mambong) as the Assistant Minister for Public Health.
Bekenu state assemblywoman Rosey Yunus has been appointed as the Assistant Minister for Solidarity.
Adenan described his cabinet line-up as very strong and consisting of “people who are prepare to serve, qualified to serve and have a proven record.” —Bernama
