KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 — Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad announced today that it has secured the broadcast rights for the English Premier League (EPL) for the next three seasons.

Astro chief operating officer Henry Tan said all 380 matches of each season will be available live on Astro TV, as well as on mobile devices via Astro on the Go (AOTG).

“Astro has strengthened its position as the home of sports and the unrivalled choice for sports fans by winning the rights to all Premier League matches for the seasons from 2016/17 to 2018/19,” he said in a statement.

Tan said this added to their growing selection of major sports broadcasts for the year.

“Sport fans can look forward to a major sporting year with a comprehensive line-up of live sports events such as UEFA EURO 2016, Rio 2016 Olympics and Thomas & Uber Cup 2016 on Astro TV and AOTG,” he said.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore said the league was pleased with Astro’s decision to invest in the broadcasting deal, attributing the popularity of the EPL in Malaysia to the satellite broadcaster.

“The popularity of the Premier League continues to grow in Malaysia and Astro’s high quality production of our competition is a key reason for that. We look forward to continuing to work with Astro to make the best Premier League content available to our fans across the country,” he said.
