KOTA KINABALU, Oct 9 — Pos Malaysia Berhad's deepest underwater post box at Pulau Layang Layang is closed for six months and will be back in service in February next year.
Sabah Pos Malaysia operations manager Perais Tiying said the post box was closed since last month following the cessation of recreational activities for the public on the island due to weather condition.
“Pulau Layang-Layang is now closed to the public and for tourism because of weather factor and all activities, including the deepest underwater post box service, have been closed since last month,” he told reporters at a programme to celebrate World Post Day in the compound of the general post office here today.
The post box at Pulau Layang Layang was launched last July and it was entered into the Malaysia Book of Records as the deepest underwater post box in the country at a depth of 40 metres below sea level. — Bernama
