PUTRAJAYA, Aug 26 — Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (KITA) today dismissed a social media report that the newly-formed Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) will take over the party.

KITA secretary-general Azmi Othman said the rumour had claimed that a new party called Diplomatic Islamic Party (DIP) or AMANAH would be set up on Aug 31 following the takeover.

"A check with the Registrar of Societies on Aug 19 showed that there was an attempt to falsify information on the party takeover for handing over to GHB with the aim of changing the name.

"This explanation is necessary to avoid any party from getting cheated by irresponsible parties seeking the easy way out to profitability or political convenience," he told a news conference here.

Azmi said a report was lodged at the Kajang District Police headquarters on Aug 20.

He also said that the explanation was necessary to pacify the estimated 7,000 KITA members nationwide who had been disturbed by the news. — Bernama
