KUANTAN, Oct 11 — The unique structure of engineering and technology education at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has become the success recipe for it to be recognised as among the best universities in Asia by the United Nations Organisation for Education, Science and Culture (Unesco).
UMP Chancellor Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said its ability to obtain such recognition from a credible international organisation like Unesco was a great honour.
“I believe it is a result of wise leadership from the management, integrity of academic staff and management as well as high awareness among UMP students regarding their responsibility,” he said when speaking at the ninth UMP convocation ceremony held at UMP Gambang, here today.
Tengku Abdullah, who is also Regent of Pahang, said maintaining the success was more of a challenge to the university’s board of directors and management than achieving it.
He also hoped to see UMP becomes a top university that provides quality education so that its graduates would be highly sought after in the job market. — Bernama
