KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — “We will never forgive him for taking away our family’s happiness,” Ng Yuk Tim’s grandfather, William Sim, 59, said. The murdered 15-year-old’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Kota Kemuning on Tuesday.

William said she was a responsible and smart girl who had put her trust in a “devil in disguise”.

“She scored seven As in her UPSR and was looking for a part-time job to help the family out,” he said.

His wife, Yap Pik Wan, 59, said it was inappropriate for the suspect’s grandmother to say “he is a good guy and it is unlikely that he committed the crime.”

“The statement is ridiculous. If he did not kill her, are they saying she committed suicide, locked herself in a suitcase and threw herself in Kota Kemuning?” Pik Wan, who was in tears, asked.

She said the family suspected something amiss when they went to check the Kelana Jaya LRT’s CCTV footage and did not see Yuk Tim walking in at the time the suspect said he had dropped her at the station.

“What I don’t understand is why he put up a show of innocence by helping us search for Yuk Tim when she went missing. Even though he said he was sorry, we will not accept it as being sorry can’t bring her back,” said Pik Wan.

Yuk Tim lived with her mother and grandparents after her parents split up four years ago.

Her aunt, Sim Yee Lien, 31, said she was artistic and had a passion for animation.

“She was independent and responsible from young. We never questioned her activities as we knew we could trust her,” said Yee Lien, who flew in from Abu Dhabi.

The family, including Yuk Tim’s father Ng Sai Kuan, 38, who lives in Johor, were at the University Malaya Medical Centre’s (UMMC) mortuary yesterday morning awaiting the results of her post-mortem.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the suspect was brought in to UMMC’s forensics department yesterday afternoon for a physical examination.

“We are comparing the bite marks found on the suspect’s hand to see if they match the victim’s teeth pattern,” he said.

The 23-year-old suspect has been remanded until Tuesday.

Yuk Tim was reported missing on Monday. Her body was found on Tuesday stuffed in a suitcase dumped at an industrial area in Kota Kemuning.

Police recovered the body from information given by the suspect, who admitted to killing her after she rejected his sexual advances.

A source said that Yuk Tim got to know the suspect through Facebook five years ago and had met him several times for group outings.

She will be cremated tomorrow.
