KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Lim Guan Eng tonight urged the authorities to censure sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee for their Ramadan jibe as he sought to distance the DAP from the controversial duo.

The DAP secretary-general labelled Umno's Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin "mad" for reportedly linking his party to Tan and Lee and insisted the DAP has no ties to the two.

"He's mad. Complete fabrication. Not only immoral but amoral.

"Blame them (DAP) for everything, like Hitler blame Jews for everything," Lim (picture) told The Malay Mail Online when met at the DAP's buka puasa function tonight.

In Parliament earlier this evening, the outspoken Bung demanded that Tan and Lee be hauled to court for allegedly insulting Islam and later appeared to blame the DAP for the duo's actions.

"I'm not accusing, but maybe this is tajaan DAP (sponsored by DAP)," Bung said, which immediately prompting lawmakers from DAP, including Anthony Loke (Seremban) and Teresa Kok (Seputeh), to demand that he retract his words.

Disagreeing with Bung, Lim accused Tan and Lee of a deliberate attempt to incite hatred and strife with their racially-charged taunt against the Muslims during the holy Ramadan fasting month.

Last week, the duo stirred up a hornet’s nest by posting a mock “Selamat Berbuka Puasa” (breaking of fast) greeting to their joint Facebook page that showed them eating “bak kut teh”, a pork dish, and describing it as “wangi, enak, menyelerakan” (fragrant, delicious, appetising).

The picture also included a “Halal” logo, although the consumption of pork is forbidden to Muslims.

This drew widespread calls for their punishment, eventually leading to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) hauling them up yesterday.

"Insulting a religion? I mean how can they do that," Lim said tonight.

"It is offensive. They live in Malaysia they should know."

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police. Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar advised the duo to present themselves to Kuala Lumpur police to have their statement taken, saying earlier that authorities have linked their previous action to the kidnap-and-assault of a Chinese man in Shah Alam yesterday.

Khalid also confirmed that the couple will now be investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code and may even face arrest.

“I advise the couple to come forward to the KL police to allow us to record their statements,” Khalid said.

Section 289A includes a variety offences, namely causing “disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will, or prejudicing, etc., the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion.”

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail also said today the couple may be charged with sedition, despite the government's plan to repeal the colonial-era law.

“Consideration can be made and will be made for this,” Abdul Ghani was quoted as saying by news portal Malaysiakini after a seminar on cybercrime in Bangi.

The Malaysian duo in their early twenties had late last year courted controversy over the videos and photographs of their sexual exploits that had been posted on a now-defunct blog.
