KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — Free seafood, anyone? A lorry carrying a perishable shipment of squid spilled its contents by accident along the Guthrie Corridor Expressway heading to Elmina yesterday.
User Aiman on TikTok (@__aimaan) shared a video of the lorry's contents strewn along the roadside, with containers askew.
It wasn't the contents that caught the eye, but a small crowd of people eagerly collecting the fallen squid.
Seeing as there was no way to salvage the contents (at least without breaking food safety laws), allegedly the owner of said fishy stock decided to magnanimously allow whoever wanted to cart off the squid, to have them for free.
This was according to various comments on the TikTok, claiming they too were part of the crowd and that after the owner had come by to take stock of the situation, the lorry driver announced anyone could just have whatever they could stomach picking up, gratis.
Let's hope that whoever picks up the squid makes sure to wash and cook it thoroughly and avoid a bad case of food poisoning.
