KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Local NGO Malaysia Animal Association (MAA) is offering a monetary reward for those with evidence and information following a recent animal cruelty case in Gombak.

This is after a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by user izzat_bashir showed a kitten doused in white paint. It has been circulating on social media over the weekend.

The post included a few photos and a video which showed the kitten in a drenched state.

Following the post, MAA has taken to Facebook to offer a RM3,000 reward to anyone with information and clear evidence of the perpetrator.

The reward will be given once the animal abuser has been caught and charged in court for their crime

“Their actions are not only irresponsible but they are also threatening the cat’s life as paint is a harmful chemical to cats especially when it tries to lick themselves.

“The case can be investigated under the Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 for intentionally causing harm to the cat with a maximum imprisonment of three years and maximum fine of RM100,000 if found guilty,” MAA wrote on their post.

Since then, izzat_bashir has shared an update on the kitten’s condition by posting another photo of the now cleaned up kitten. However, it is still in a weakened state.

His post has garnered over 4,000 likes and has been reposted over 5,000 times on X with social media users fuming at the actions of the perpetrator.

This is not the first time such cases have occurred. Last month, another stray cat in Gombak was found defaced with purple dye.
