KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — The BYD Dolphin made its way into Malaysia in five different colourways but there are several options including Coral Pink and Maldive Purple were missing from the Malaysian brochure. Despite that, you may have spotted them at the recent test drive event in 1 Utama and Sime Darby Motors Autofest at Desa ParkCity.
As it turned out, both of these colourways can actually be ordered through BYD Malaysia dealers. This was confirmed by the Head of Sales Distribution Head Office at Sime Darby Beyond Auto, Calvin Sze-Tho during a media session last Friday.
Calvin said that both colours were made in limited numbers which is why they were not listed in the brochure even though the company managed to have them as part of their test drive fleet. Despite that, customers that are interested in getting their Dolphins in these colourways can simply book them just like any colours that have been listed in the brochure.
As noted in the presentation below, the Coral Pink option also features a Pink and Brown interior while the Maldive Purple has the same Black and Brown interior colours as the Sand White option. The Dolphin Dynamic Standard can also be obtained in Urban Grey which features Black and Grey interior colours.
The Head of Sales Distribution Head Office at Sime Darby Beyond Auto, Calvin Sze-Tho explained the colour options for the BYD Dolphin Dynamid Standard variant.
Meanwhile, this also applies to the Coral Pink and Urban Grey combo which is available only with the Premium Extended variant. When it comes to the interior, this particular option is draped in Pink and Grey.
The Premium Extended model is also available in Surf Blue and Urban Grey colourway that features a matching interior. There is also the Atlantis Grey and Delan Black option which has the Black and Grey interior colours.
All of these three colour options for the Premium Extended model also come with tri-tone 17-inch wheels. For customers that pretty the Ski White and Urban Grey colourway instead, they will also receive a Black and Grey interior together with 17-inch wheels that have a different design.
With an on-the-road starting price of RM100,530 not inclusive of insurance, the BYD Dolphin Dynamic Standard carries a 70kW (94hp) electric motor with 180Nm of torque. Powered by a 44.9KWh BYD Blade Battery pack, this variant can deliver a WLTP range of 340km and can support DC fast charging of up to 60kW.
The BYD Dolphin Premium Extended has a much more powerful 150kW (201hp) motor with 310Nm of torque. This variant is also equipped with a 60.48kWh battery pack that helps the EV achieve a longer WLTP range at 427km while the maximum energy it can draw from a DC fast charger is much higher at 80kW.
