KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — A woman in China came under fire from social media users after she took a smiling selfie with an unconscious person in the background who fell from a slope.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, the woman was at Xihui Park in Jiangsu where a visitor had slipped and fell down a slope.

The victim could be seen lying face down and immobile while the woman was busy taking pictures with her mobile phone, Jimu News reported.

She was also seen positioning her mobile phone to get the right angle and smiling at the camera.

The victim was later taken to a hospital for treatment where her condition was said to be stable.

The woman was heavily criticised by social media users.

Twitter user with the handle @jasonwo16794731 said it was heartbreaking to see the scene.

Fellow Twitter @bunchaujai described the woman's action as cold blooded while @Tenajoz questioned how she could still smile for the camera.
