KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — Ginger cat Oyen has been recognised as part of the capybara exhibit at Zoo Negara after a signboard was put up to announce that the cat has joined the giant rodents in their enclosure.
Oyen had been caught hanging out in the capybara enclosure for years before Zoo Negara decided to officially recognise its position recently.
Taking to their TikTok, the national zoo shared a signboard displaying the wordings capybara and Oyen.
@znmzoonegara Haaa oyen pun dah ada signage sendiri Mungkin next Roren kita pulak? Korang belum kenal Roren kan #oyen #oyenbarbar #masbro #capybara #zoonegara #zoonegaramalaysia #zoonegaramalaysia2023 girls like me don't cry (sped up) - thuy
In the 25-second clip, Oyen is seen hanging out with its herbivorous housemates.
TikTok user @N. H. S. 88 asked if Oyen visited the enclosure of its distant relative, the tiger.
Another user with the handle @NIZVM responded that if Oyen went there, it would end up being a dish.
While zoo personnel were unsure when Oyen entered the capybara enclosure, they suspected the cat had made the enclosure its home during the Covid-19 lockdown, Astro Awani reported.
