KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 ― A mother-of-two from Ipoh has become the first Malaysian to be crowned Mrs Tourism Queen International.
The 41-year-old Sangeet Kaur Manjit Singh bested 18 other contestants from various countries and recently won the title at the Mrs Tourism Queen International 2023 finale in Nong Khai, Thailand.
The education consultant was also the first runner-up for the best national costume for her outfit inspired by the Ngepan traditional Iban warrior attire.
Sangeet was quoted by The Star saying that she felt good to win at the pageant.
“I feel on top of the world being the first Malaysian to win this international title.
“I always believe in following your passion, being prepared to work hard and make sacrifices, and above all, never letting anyone limit your dreams.”
She also noted that it was her first time participating in a pageant, which was led by her passion for fashion.
“I was involved in fashion, stage shows and pageants during my university days.”
Sangeet said as a little girl, she used to put on her mother’s lipstick, wrap her shawl around herself and strut on an imaginary catwalk in front of the mirror while waving and pretending to be a beauty queen.
“Dreams do come true.”
The beauty queen said she is looking forward to being involved in projects to promote ecotourism and sustainability.
