This trick quickly went viral thanks to the user @evalarosaxo, a fan of all kinds of beauty techniques. Viewed more than 700,000 times, her video on ‘diamond lips’ was so popular that she posted other tutorials to explain how to achieve the look, even though it doesn’t really require any specific expertise, dexterity or creativity. Still, the TikToker can be credited with sparking a trend that is now widely acclaimed by her many followers, as well as by some of the world’s biggest beauty gurus.

‘Diamond lips’ require very few beauty products, making the trick highly affordable. And it’s very easy to recreate on your own. Before you start, you’ll need to grab some shimmery eyeshadow in whatever shade you like, a lip liner and a gloss. Nothing more. Then simply apply a touch of eyeshadow with a brush to the centre of the upper lip, and, more precisely, at the level of the Cupid’s bow, and to the lower lip.
