KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — The World of Tim Burton exhibition is making its Southeast Asian debut here at Pavilion Bukit Jalil from March 21 until July 30.
The four-month exhibition, co-organised by Toybox Projects Sdn Bhd, Eurasian Entertainment Consultants Ltd and KOL Nation Sdn Bhd will feature the distinctive characters, statues and the works of the renowned American filmmaker and animator from his career.
According to a statement by Toybox Projects, The World of Tim Burton will feature over 500 works, including signature pieces from the filmmaker’s retrospective.
There will also be over 150 new works not seen in the Museum of Modern Art exhibition (MoMA) tour, where it made its debut in 2009.
With over 800,000 visitors, the premiere of Burton's art exhibition in New York was the third-highest-attended exhibition in MoMA’s history.
Spectators in Malaysia can expect to see numerous works from Burton’s early ages to the most recent projects across mediums of sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs, life-sized sculptures, maquettes and puppets he used for his films.
There will also be newly-designed sculptures and signature figures for this exhibition.
The exhibition has categorised Burton’s five-decade career into 10 thematic sections.
You can also expect to take a peek into the current projects in progress through the exact replica of Burton’s personal studio where he actually works.
Burton is known for his films such as Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo.
Tickets will be available here from Jan 11 and at the exhibition venue from March 21.
