PETALING JAYA, Nov 7 — Every October is noteworthy as being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer.

Increasingly more companies around the world have incorporated this campaign as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

One such company is local beauty product distributor R Beaute which joined hands with Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).

Kevin.Murphy and Montibello — which are carried by R Beaute — are the first professional hair beauty brands in Malaysia to launch a breast cancer awareness campaign involving over 100 salons nationwide.

“We believe that driving breast cancer awareness is a cause that is near and dear to us, especially in our hair beauty industry of which the majority is made up of women,” said R Beaute managing director Roy Kow, who applauded all the hair salons for coming together to support the cause.

The two campaigns — #PositivelyPink by Kevin.Murphy and #LovelyInPink by Montibello — were launched for the whole of last month.

For every bottle purchased from either brand, RM1 was donated to BCWA in support of its initiative to shine a light on breast cancer and health.

With the collective efforts of participating salons and support from the public, R Beaute managed to raise RM2,118 in donations for BCWA.

Kow recently presented a mock cheque to BCWA secretary Liew Swee Lee, who expressed her gratitude for the donation. They were joined by R Beaute marketing manager Shannon Chan at BCWA office in Petaling Jaya.
