KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — One man's trash is another man's treasure.
For biology graduate Joos Habraken, he uses insect body parts to create warrior figurines, Oddity Central reported.
The 28-year-old's unusual hobby started when he went to the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences for his masters, after studying biology in college.
"We had a behind-the-scenes tour of the collections and were told volunteers could take some material home to mount the insects and bring it back - it all started from there,” Habraken, who hails from Ghent, Belgium, said.
Habraken typically spends between 20 and 30 hours working on each of his ‘Frankenstein bugs’, born out of his imagination and featuring intimidating names.
He has never killed insects to fuel his hobby and only uses parts of insects that are sourced from his own collection or from a network of people he has collaborated with over the years.
Habraken, who now works in a gym, uses superglue to piece the parts together.
