KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — What's your definition of a perfect burger? For me, it's how each element — from the bun, patty and sauces — ties together to make a delicious, juicy bite that you cannot stop eating.

That's how I feel about the burgers from Bones. Their burgers have become a weekly addiction since I discovered them.

Find them smoking the grill at Taman Tun Dr Ismail. You can spot their distinct skull logo, right opposite the Shell petrol station.

I like how focused the menu is. Just four choices: All well executed.

The O.G. is my must-eat all the time. When less is used in building a burger, it lets each element shine.

Here their homemade 120 grams beef patty stands out. It's juicy and tasty. The patty gets a savoury umami boost from their caramelised onion jam. Melted cheese covers the juicy patty to give it a creamy taste.

I'm not a fan of soggy buns hence I am happy how well griddled the buns are. This helps prevent the dreaded soggy bottom bun. A sprinkle of water helps to prevent a dry bun as they are griddled a little longer on the grill.

If you see the cross section of their bun, the ratio is just right with a fluffy texture to balance out the slightly salty taste of that onion jam with the beef patty. There's also a slick of their mustard pickle sauce to give it a tangy hit.

For RM12, it's a steal since it's extremely satisfying. If you're hungry, double up the patties for RM18 for a decadent meal.

If you prefer a messy bite, go for their Sloppy G (RM16) that includes a dollop of chilli con carne. The minced beef spices up the burger, taking up the heat level slightly.

For the chicken burgers, my favourite is the Kahuna (RM16). I'm personally partial to pineapple in my burgers. When I was in university, it was always a greasy burger with caramelised pineapple for supper.

For the Kahuna, you get a juicy 120 grams patty made with chicken breast topped with grilled pineapple cubes that give it a nice sweetness. Balancing out the sweetness is a hit of savoury from the BBQ tabasco sauce and a generous portion of lettuce.

If you prefer a creamier bite, the Kaiser (RM12) is for you. Using the same chicken patty, it is generously slathered with a creamy Caesar sauce to give it a mild flavour. You also have a sprinkle of chilli flakes and lettuce with tomato too.

Once you get to the stall, just place your order and pay via online bank transfer. They will let you know how long it takes so you can return to collect your burgers. Limited tables are available on site.

The wait is dependent on how busy they are. Usually I get my burger within 15 minutes but if there's a crowd, it's best to check how long you need to wait.

Bones is operated by John Fugu who once ran Sixty Bites at the same spot.
