BANGKOK, Aug 16 — Thailand’s Prime Minister-elect Paetongtarn Shinawatra said today her government would have a strong and experienced team that would strive to be successful, hours after winning a parliamentary vote to become premier.

The 37-year-old daughter of divisive billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra told a press conference her father had called her to congratulate her and was very happy. — Reuters
