Indonesian minister: China, Indonesia discuss extending high-speed railway

JAKARTA, Sept 6 — China and Indonesia discussed potentially extending the Southeast Asian country’s first-high speed railway, after Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended a trial run today, an Indonesian minister said.

The China-funded 142-kilometre railway currently connects the capital Jakarta to the city of Bandung. Indonesian minister Luhut Pandjaitan told reporters he discussed further extending the track to the city of Surabaya, on the eastern end of Java island, more than 700 kilometres from Jakarta. — Reuters
