National judo squad closes SEA Games with three bronze

NAYPYITAW, Dec 21 — The national judo squad only manged to win three bronze medals on the last day of the event at Zayar Thiri Indoor Stadium today.

Muhammad Ruzaini Abdul Razak took the bronze in the men’s over 100kg event where Singaporean Han Boon Ho bagged the gold after defeating Thailand’s Saknarin Kaewpakdee.

Norizzatul Fazlia Mohamad Tahir shared the bronze medal with Indonesian Desii Yudiyanti in the women’s 70-78kg event, when host Aye Aye Aung defeated Nguyen Thi Nhu Y of Vietnam for the gold.

Malaysia’s last bronze was contributed by Noor Asnida Abdul Razak, who shared the medal with Vietnamese Thuy Duy Tran in the women’s above 78kg event.

The gold medal was bagged by Thailand’s Thonthan Satjadet, who defeated host Khin Myo Thu.

Meanwhile, the national petanque squad managed to win only the bronze through Mohamad Hakem Ahmad Saberi, Saiful Bahari Musmin and Muhamad Hafizuddin Mat Daud in the men’s trio event, sharing the medal with Vietnam.

The gold medal was bagged by Laos against Thailand in the final at the Wunna Theikdi Petanque Stadium. — Bernama
