SEOUL, Oct 19 — It’s a good week for women in K-pop as Blackpink Jennie and Rosé’s new singles are both charting in the top five of Korea’s music streaming charts.

Rosé’s single, a collaboration with Bruno Mars called APT (after a popular drinking song) has even topped all four of the major music charts, namely Melon, Bugs, FLO and Genie, scoring her a Realtime All Kill (RAK) in Korean music chart terms.

Meanwhile Aespa’s Karina who also scored quite a few RAKs of her own with her solo single Up just won first place on MBC’s Music Core music show.

Music Core is one of the tougher shows to win as it needs strong scores not just in digital streaming points but social media views, pre-voting as well as live voting from fans, high broadcast points as well as marks from a panel of judges.

You can watch the announcement of her win below:

Karina’s win is remarkable considering she has never performed the song outside Aespa’s concert tour and one special performance for entertainment channel Mnet’s MY ARTi FILM show.

The song was released as part of a special digital single that also featured solo tracks by the other members of Aespa, namely Giselle, Winter and Ningning.

Her song Up is also still in the top three of all major streaming charts.

Jennie’s Mantra is also doing well in the Korean charts, but her music video has been banned from public broadcast channels, meaning it will only be seen on Korea’s cable channels.

That hasn't stopped the song from winning her first place in music show M Countdown.

Both Jennie and Rosé are also doing well on Apple iTunes and Apple Music charts as well as Spotify.
