KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — Popular 80s singer Rohana Jalil passed away yesterday evening at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
The 68-year-old, who has been in the hospital since April 18 for treatment for an intestinal perforation, took her last breath at 11.33pm surrounded by her family, BH Online reported.
Her manager known as Jepun said Rohana, or her real name Dara Abdul Jalil, will be buried today before Zuhur prayers at Tanah Perkuburan Islam USJ21, Subang Jaya.
Her body, added Jepun, would be brought to Masjid Al-Falah, USJ9, Subang Jaya for final prayers and those wanting to pay their respects can do so.
He said Rohana lost consciousness since noon on Tuesday and doctors had advised family members to gather at 5pm.
The Kota Tinggi, Johor native's involvement in the entertainment industry began after her after her win at Bintang RTM in 1980.
Since then, she has recorded 20 albums and among her popular songs are Rayuan Ku, Resah Ku, Kerana Dia Kita Terpisah, Faez and Jauh Terkenang.
She leaves behind husband Jahangir Khan and three daughters including actress Syakila Nisha or popularly known as Kilafairy.
