KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Popular British band Coldplay has added two additional unprecedented shows in Singapore for their upcoming concert in January.
Concert organiser, Live Nation Singapore took to Twitter on Sunday to announce the fifth show on Jan 30 in addition to the original concert dates on Jan 23, 24, 26 and 27.
After overwhelming response, the organiser added one and "final” concert making it a stunning six-date show next year.
"Tickets are selling fast! Due to the overwhelming demand for Coldplay ‘Music of The Spheres World Tour in Singapore’, the sixth and final date has been added at the Singapore National Stadium on Jan 31,” said the organiser on Twitter.
The Grammy-winning band reportedly sold over 200,000 tickets to its four shows during the pre-sales period yesterday.
The concert will be part of the second Asian leg of Coldplay’s world tour which will also include Manila and Bangkok on January 19 and February 3 respectively.
The rock band will host their debut concert in Malaysia for a one-night only performance on November 22 at Stadium Bukit Jalil.
The ticket sales, however, sparked frustration among Malaysian fans who were unable to book a spot at the concert when the sale began on May 17, with tickets sold out in less than three hours.
Many also were upset after seeing scalpers re-selling the tickets online for a much higher price than the actual ticket rates.
Disappointed fans then took to social media to request an additional concert date from the band after facing difficulties in securing tickets for the performance.
No additional concert dates have been announced to date.
