KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 ― Malaysian singer and actor Dafi is claiming that many of his ‘friends’ disappeared once his father, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was no longer prime minister.

As reported by MStar, Dafi or his real name Gaddafi Ismail Sabri revealed that during his father’s time as the ninth prime minister of Malaysia, he received a lot of direct messages from ‘friends’ via his social media.

"I remember spending some of my time from 5pm until 9am the next morning just to reply to these messages.

"I would be labelled as rude if I didn't reply to the messages, especially those who approached me kindly. So I just went with the flow.

"It was already expected, when my father’s no longer there (the PM), everyone suddenly disappeared just like that,” Dafi claimed.

He added that there were even those who had not been in contact with him for years suddenly reappeared in his life, this time with proposal plans.

Aside from that, the 35-year-old Akademi Fantasia’s alumni also said shared that some of his job offers were cancelled following his father’s not being in office anymore.

"It’s not like there’s no job offers at all, I still receive some. But there are those (job offers) which have already been agreed upon but were cancelled just like that.

"They suddenly told me that it’s been cancelled even though they were the ones excited to give me the offer. I don’t want to dive deeper into it, I guess it was just not my luck,” he said.

Dafi also clarified that he has never used his father’s name for his own gain and shared that even he himself had to go through his own savings in order to survive while he was not receiving any job offers.

Ismail Sabri was named the ninth prime minister of Malaysia in August 2021 and served for 15 months until November 2022.
