KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — The organiser of Jay Chou’s concert in Sydney, Australia, has been fined an undisclosed sum after the Taiwanese singer extended his event by an hour.
In the concert that was held on Saturday, the ‘King of Mandopop’ sang a total of 58 songs, which was a record, 163.com reported.
When told that the organiser had been fined for the extended performance, Chou said he has no issues with it as long as the fans are happy.
The portal noted that this was not the first time an organiser of Chou’s concert had been fined.
The most recent incident was during his Shanghai concert where the organiser was fined 200,000 yuan (RM129,402).
In a related development, tickets for Chou’s Haikou City concert in June has been sold out in 30 seconds when sales was opened on February 28.
However, genuine fans are taking to Chou’s social media to complain that scalpers are making a quick buck from it.
"The concert tickets are impossible to get, and the scalpers are raising prices like crazy. A ticket that cost 500 yuan is 2,000 yuan ,” 8days quoted one fan as saying.
Some scalpers are even selling front row tickets, which cost 2,000 yuan at a whopping 28,000 yuan.
