KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 — American rapper Doja Cat has completely transformed herself for the Paris Haute Couture opening week.
Wearing a design by Schiaparelli, Doja Cat wowed guests with full red body paint along with 30,000 Swarovski crystals at the French fashion house's Spring-Summer 2023 show.
The Kiss Me More singer donned a devilish red silk bustier with beaded tulip skirt and a pair of knee-high boots.
The outfit was designed by Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry while the make-up was done by British make-up artist Pat McGrath and her team.
Describing it as 'Doja’s Inferno', McGrath shared that it took her team almost five hours to complete the ‘shimmering, scintillating and subversive look'.
"Collaborating with the incomparably talented Doja Cat and Daniel Roseberry was an absolute pleasure," McGrath told Vogue.
"Her patience and dedication as she sat with Team Pat McGrath and I for four hours and 58 minutes to achieve the creation, covered in over 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals, was truly inspiring,” she said.
According to McGrath, all the Swarovski crystals as well as the red body paint were applied by hand.
She also shared a couple of short snippets of the whole process on her Instagram and coined the final look as ‘magical, mesmerising masterpiece of sparkling brilliance’.
According to CNN, Roseberry’s latest collection was inspired from the nine circles of hell, described in famous poem Inferno by Dante Alighieri.
Roseberry is the first American to lead a French couture house after he took over as creative director of Schiaparelli in 2019. The fashion house was founded in 1927 by Elsa Schiaparelli.
Doja arrived at the show with stylist Brett Alan Nelson, who wore a matching outfit.
Doja was seated in the front row just a few feet away from Kylie Jenner, who also made headlines for wearing a life-sized faux lion head on her dress.
