KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — Fresh off being named Icon of the Year 2022 by Time magazine, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is kept busy promoting her latest series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

While being interviewed by the media, Yeoh was posed a question about the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians. She starred as Eleanor Sung-Young in the 2018 romantic comedy movie based on Kevin Kwan’s novel.

As it turns out, the Malaysian actress is just as eager for another Crazy Rich Asians installment like the rest of the world.

"We are still waiting on it. We know there's a writer on it, so we'll see. Fingers crossed,” she told E! News.

The sequel would follow Kwan’s second book, China Rich Girlfriend, which revolves around Nick (played by Henry Golding) and Rachel (Constance Wu) as they prepare to walk down the aisle.

In 2019, the movie's screenwriter Adele Lim left the project due to pay disparity between herself and co-writer Peter Chiarelli. Her position was then filled by writer-director Amy Wang in March.

Yeoh, 60, has been winning raves for Everything Everywhere All At Once, and recently confirmed to be joining the star-studded cast of Jon M.Chu's Wicked movies.

In The Witcher: Blood Origin, Yeoh plays the lead role of elf Scían. Her co-stars include Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown and Mirren Mack. It premieres on Netflix on December 25.
