KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Malaysia’s total trade for July 2023 amounted to RM216.4 billion compared to RM222.1 billion in June, with exports and imports standing at RM116.8 billion and RM99.7 billion, respectively.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia said Penang remained the top exporter with RM39.6 billion, or a 33.9 per cent share of the country’s total exports (June 2023: 33.2 per cent).

It was followed by Johor at 19.6 per cent, Selangor at 17.8 per cent, Sarawak at 7.0 per cent, and Kedah at 4.4 per cent, chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said in a statement on the latest export and import statistics by state today.

"Exports were valued at RM116.8 billion in July 2023, decreasing RM17.6 billion (13.1 per cent) from the same month of the previous year,” it said.

On imports, Mohd Uzir said that that Selangor continued to dominate with imports of RM27.7 billion, or a share of 27.8 per cent of total imports (June 2023: 25.8 per cent).

It was followed by Johor at 22.9 per cent, Penang at 19.6 per cent, Kuala Lumpur at 7.2 per cent, and Sarawak at 5.0 per cent.

"Imports also decreased by RM18.8 billion (15.9 per cent) in July 2023 compared to the same month in 2022,” he said. — Bernama
