KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — Malaysia’s services producer price index (SPPI) went up three per cent in the third quarter of 2022 (Q3 2022) to 113.8 compared to 110.5 in the same quarter last year, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said.
The increase in the SPPI was driven by the growth in the arts, entertainment and recreation (7.5 per cent), accommodation and food and beverage (F&B) service activities (7.0 per cent), transportation (4.9 per cent) and education (1.1 per cent) indices.
"The professional and health sub-sectors rose 0.4 per cent, followed by real estate activities (0.3 per cent).
"However, the the index of information and communication remained unchanged,”DoSM said in a statement today.
On a quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) basis, the SPPI rose by 1.7 per cent, contributed by arts, entertainment and recreation (4.3 per cent), transportation (4.1 per cent), accommodation and F&B service activities (2.5 per cent) and education (0.3 per cent).
The index for professional and health sub-sectors registered a marginal rise of 0.1 per cent.
DoSM said indices for real estate activities and information and communication sub-sectors remainded unchanged. — Bernama
