Mukah police officer dies in motorcycle crash on Pan Borneo Highway near Bintulu

BINTULU, Sept 1 — A 43-year-old police officer from the Mukah district police headquarters was killed in a single-vehicle accident yesterday.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the incident occurred at around 11.30am at Mile 35, Pan Borneo Bintulu/Miri road, when the deceased was riding a Benelli 502C motorcycle from Mukah to Miri.

"The motorcyclist was travelling from Mukah towards Miri when he lost control of his motorcycle upon reaching the curve at Mile 35.

"The motorcycle veered to the right side of the road and collided with the central guardrail,” he said.

Nixon said the deceased, who sustained severe head and body injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Bintulu Hospital.

He added that road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear at the time of the accident.
