Global IT outage hits KLIA, long queues as passengers forced to check-in manually while KLIA Express app and ticketing down

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 — The global outage of IT operations running on Microsoft-based systems seems to have hit Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with reports on social media from users, saying that operations have been disrupted at Terminal 2.

Long queues have been sighted as the kiosks are Terminal 2 are not operational, forcing travellers to manually check in at counters.

Express airport train service KLIA Express announced on X (formerly twitter) that its payment system is down and tickets can only be purchased manually.

So far only Air Asia has confirmed its inhouse systems to be affected while still allowing for flights to operate.

Situation at Terminal 1 is better, as both Malaysia Airports and Malaysia Airlines saying they are not facing any disruption.
