IPOH, Dec 18 — The family of the hit-and-run victim, Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie, has appealed to social media users to delete videos and photos of the fatal accident near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jati here.

The victim’s brother, Zarul Fitri Muhd Zamrie, 29, said the family would be emotionally affected by the way the video continued to spread virally.

"When we watch the video on social media, it will bring back memories about the incident, so we appeal on humanitarian grounds that the video and photos of the fatal accident be deleted,” he told reporters after receiving the Home Minister’s Political Secretary, Johari Kassin at his residence in Taman Chepor Sentosa here today.

Zairul Fitri said his family was very touched by the support and solidarity shown by Malaysians to them over the incident.

"Thank you very much for your support, I know many are praying for my brother. I only ask for justice and transparency in the investigation,” he said, adding that the appointment of eight deputy public prosecutors to handle the case reassured him that justice will be done.

Senior police officer, Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak, 44, was charged with murdering Muhammad Zaharif in the fatal accident at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court earlier today. — Bernama
