KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — The federal police have officially submitted the required documents to Interpol to request for a Red Notice against Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law Muhammad Adlan Berhan and his lawyer Mansoor Saat.
Sinar Harian reported Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain as confirming that police have received the documents from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday.
"We have received the documents at 3pm,” he briefly told the Malay daily yesterday, referring to the police.
"It has also been forwarded to Interpol for further action.”
On Saturday, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki explained that the draft charges were among the documents required by Interpol from the commission before a red notice can be issued to Muhammad Adlan.
This was following reports a day before where Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Interpol had requested additional information on the red notice application, adding that Bukit Aman was awaiting for the MACC to provide it.
A red notice is a request to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and arrest a person pending extradition, surrender or other similar legal action.
The application for a red notice from Interpol can only be made through the country’s national police.
Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor are being sought by the MACC to assist in an investigation into a project involving the registration, recruitment and storage of foreign worker biometric data at a ministry.
Prior to that, it was reported that the MACC was actively looking for both men, indicating that they may have fled after leaving the country in May.
However, Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor issued statements refuting claims that they were on the run from the authorities, insisting they left the country to settle business.
